PhD Update – Fall Semester 2018

Mortar Board, PhD, PhD Update, Georgia State University

It feels like a lifetime since I’ve written a post here.  Getting a PhD takes up a lot of my free time.  Who could have guessed embarking on a journey to achieve academia’s highest honor would be so time consuming?  But in all seriousness, I am actually having a wonderful time.  I can’t imagine why I didn’t start this earlier.

I think the most rewarding aspect here has been teaching.  I’m finally doing what I was meant to do.  It is not an easy task.  Education naturally has a lot of hurdles to overcome.  But the rewards when things work right are indescribable.

As far as the courses I have been taking went, I think I have developed a strong foundation on where I want my research to progress.  I already have some idea on specifics.  It has been advised that I select a particular time period to focus on, the idea being that I will be more employable with a specialization in a specific era.  I am leaning toward Middle English Literature.  I already have some background in Chaucer and Malory, which will help with my research.

Keep checking back for updates my PhD progress.
